1. Extended Warranties
We are often asked the question "Should I purchase the extended
warranty when I buy a new TV"
. Extended warranties are an insurance
policy on your TV set. In many cases we've seen these policies more
than pay for themselves when TV sets prematurely fail however please
note that from our perspective we only are aware of the sets that actually
prematurely fail so it takes a more comprehensive study to get an
educated answer and Consumer Reports did just that. Consumer reports
released a study
(click here to read the CR blog related to this study)
that indicated most products don't break down within the first 3 years of
ownership (the usual lifespan of an extended warranty). We will add that
typically a TV repair is about the cost of the insurance anyway so our
recommendation is to save the cash and save our number then if your
TV prematurely crashes please give us a call!
